How Often?
We serve over 200 regular customers and roughly 80% of them have weekly or every other week regular maid service. It is best to look at your needs and then decide for yourself. Typically, the larger the home or office, the more often we recommend service. Larger homes or offices tend to build up more dust on a daily basis. Additionally, homes with pets are recommended to have the service more often due to the build up of pet hair. Whatever you decide, below are our most popular options to help you:
- Twice a Week
- Weekly
- Every other week (Every 2 weeks)
- Every four weeks
- Custom schedule to fit your needs
What Time During the Day?
We try to keep our employees’ hours as regular as possible. Typically, we work from 8:30am-5:30pm daily, which means the earliest we would arrive would be between 8:45-9am and the latest we usually arrive is between 3-5pm.
Because we work in teams of four, we generally clean around 4-6 homes daily per team. You will receive an email or phone call (whatever you prefer) the day before reminding you of your cleaning and giving you a two hour window of arrival.
We know that some customers have specific work schedules and some have children who desperately need a nap. No matter the case, we can work out a schedule that is best for you and your family or office.
Which Day of the Week?
We can clean your home or office any day you prefer. The overwhelming majority of our customers are cleaned Monday-Friday, but we do have some on Saturdays. We will work with you to find the best possible day and then return on that same day on your regular schedule if you sign up for regular service.
Because we clean several homes a day, we occasionally have cancellations and rescheduling of appointments. In that case, we will have a few appointments available on a specific day of the week and offer a discount if you fill that spot. Check our homepage for these special offerings!
Whoooooops! What happens when The Maids Boston breaks something?
Whether we like it or not, we will occasionally break something in one of our client’s homes. We clean over 100 homes a week in Greater Boston and we simply will never be able to avoid it. Just the other day one of our team members knocked over and damaged a frame when attempting to dust it. I can tell you this is rare but we do like to be prepared when it does happen.
In the case we break or damage an item in your home, the team leader will write you a note informing you what happened. Then, Patricia or myself will follow up with you the next day. We will never try to hide an item we break and none of our team members are penalized for breaking something. We simply understand that these things will happen over the course of time. Next, we will discuss how to remedy the situation. Sometimes, we can just simply purchase a new item for you and replace it as soon as possible. Other times, we may have to involve our insurance company. Whatever the case, know that The Maids is committed to ensuring you receive the best cleaning and the best service in Boston.

The Maids Cleaning vs. Disaster Cleaning
We periodically receive calls from customers who need a cleaning that is a little out of the scope of what we do. Need your Spring Cleaning done? Need a move-out or move-in clean? We clean over 100 homes and offices a week of all shapes, sizes, and conditions. We encourage you to read more about our services.
Below are some common health hazards we cannot help clean:
- Mold/mildew
- Animal feces
- Blood
- Hazardous Material
The reasons we cannot assist customers in these instances is two-fold. First and foremost, we do not want to subject our team members to these health hazards. We want to provide a safe working environment for our employees to earn a living. Their safety is paramount and we would never jeopardize that.
Secondly, our team members are not properly trained to clean these occurrences and therefore we cannot guarantee our work. We highly recommend ServPro in and around Boston and recommend you visit their website for more information. They specialize and are highly trained to work in these environments.
If you have any questions or doubts regarding your home cleaning, just give us a call!
Tipping The Maids Boston…..Is it Required?
I am asked a few times a week the appropriate manner in which to tip the team who cleans their home. At The Maids Boston, gratuity for your team is by no means required and we will never influence you one way or another. Instead, I can inform you ways in which some of our current customers do so and you can make a more informed decision.
How can a customer tip?
Currently, you can tip your team the following ways and it will be divided equally between your team:
- Cash
- Check
- Credit Card
How much should a customer tip?
This may be the hardest question to answer. This number varies greatly between customers. I will tell you some customers tip $10 and some several hundred. Whatever the case may be, your team will greatly appreciate the gesture.
How often should a customer tip?
We have customers who add a tip every single cleaning, we have some who tip once a year, and we have some who never do. Whatever you choose to decide, we will accommodate your request. Like anyone, our team members always appreciate when their hard work is recognized from another source but you will never be judged one way or another.
Can I only tip my team money?
Not at all. Monetary gifts are not the only way to thank your team for a job well done. Several of our customers show their appreciation in other ways. For example, some customers:
- Sign thank you notes
- Bake cookies/treats
- Pass down old clothes, furniture, or any other random item they are getting rid of
Again, The Maids Boston does not require our customers to tip. I just wanted to address a matter I noticed was important to many of our customers. If you have any questions, read more about our services or just give us a call at the office and we would be happy to assist you.
Spring Cleaning in Boston
We have great weather this week and the weekend is looking even better! With good weather, our customers have their seasonal Spring cleaning on their minds. The Maids of Boston wants to help and we have a few tips to help you make a decision about your cleaning, no matter which company you choose.
Decluttering goes a long way. Everyone wants their hardwood floors cleaned to perfection. To do so, we have to vacuum and mop the floors. Decluttering the floors and kitchen/bathroom counters will help the team spend less time picking up items, thus work faster and lower your final price.
Next, try to be present when the team arrives, at least initially. You can discuss any specifics with your team leader and she can direct the team accordingly. Maybe you have something you do not want us to clean or even touch. Maybe you want us to concentrate more in your kitchen. Some of our customers have artwork valued in the hundreds of thousands, some have electronics worth thousands, whatever the case may be, the more we know about your home the better the cleaning will be.
Some of our customers have small studio apartments. Alternatively, some have extremely large homes! To help reduce the cost, you may want to limit the cleaning to two hours, for example. You can tell the team leader to concentrate on the common areas (i.e. living room, kitchen, and bathrooms). Or maybe you just want your windows, baseboards, and floors cleaned. Whatever the case may be, The Maids of Boston can accommodate your cleaning needs.
We know that selecting a cleaning service can be overwhelming at times and we want to make the process easier. I found an interesting article on the website www.smartmoney.com regarding cleaning services that I think customers would enjoy reading. Click on the article above to read. Whatever decision you make, The Maids Home Services hopes we can clean your Boston area home in the near future!
